IB Summer College Academy Application As an International Baccalaureate student, you are invited to apply to the 2018 Chicago Public Schools IB Summer College Academy. This program is designed for students who aspire to gain admissions to and succeed in very selective universities and colleges. Since there are a limited number of available spaces in the program, it will be open to IB Diploma Programme students only. Please only apply if you are serious about participating. This event will take place on three full days from June 24-26, 2018, on the campus of DePaul University in Lincoln Park, and is intended to give outstanding students, like you, the opportunity to do all of the following before you start your senior year of high school o Learn from experienced English teachers how to write an excellent personal statement, o Meet and learn from college admissions counselors representing local and out-of-state colleges and universities; o Learn how to present yourself in an interview; o Learn the many steps that go into applying to college; o Become familiar with the financial aid process and applying for scholarships; o Meet other IB students and alumni from the Chicago Public Schools and attend a top tier college fair. We are excited to announce the William J. and Beverly Goldsborough Scholarship, a new full-tuition award at Monmouth College available exclusively to high-achieving students from the Chicagoland area, including students from your high school. Monmouth’s most prestigious scholarship, the Goldsborough Scholars program recognizes outstanding students from the Chicagoland area who have consistently demonstrated academic excellence throughout their high school careers and who embody the mission and values of Monmouth, as evidenced by leadership, service, civic engagement and co-curricular commitments. The scholarship covers full tuition for four years (eight semesters). Admitted high school seniors with a 3.5 or higher cumulative high school GPA and a 1230 minimum SAT composite score (26 ACT) are eligible to compete for this award at our annual Fellows and Scholarship Competition Day, which will be Saturday, February 2. Candidates must apply to the college by our January 15 priority scholarship deadline and must complete the Fellows and Scholars application requirements by January 18. We anticipate awarding two or three Goldsborough Scholarships per year. Students who compete at our Fellows and Scholarship Competition Day will also be considered for other top scholarships. All seniors (especially those who have applied to Monmouth) are invited to the Monmouth College Reception on Sunday, January 27 (at 2:00 PM). Monmouth College is sponsoring a "Meet Monmouth in Chicago" pizza luncheon/information session for seniors and parents (college counselors and teachers welcome too of course). Seating is limited, so please RSVP soon. There is no charge for this luncheon. Monmouth Admission Representatives will be available to discuss individual financial aid questions and concerns at the end of the program. Also, Berenice Martinez, Monmouth alumna, will be there...she is bilingual (and a CPS grad)...so if parents need to hear about Monmouth in Spanish, Berenice will be there to help answer all their questions and concerns. Noche de Ciencias is meant to introduce the community to the the world of STEM. There will be exciting STEM activities for middle and high school students, parent workshops, and free food and refreshments. The event is FREE for students and parents.
